Non-Swimmer (Swim England Stage 1–2 | STA Stanley 1–3 | STA Stage Grades 1–2) New to swimming lessons or still developing confidence in the water. Learning fundamental skills such as floating, push and glides and kicking with support
Beginner Swimmer (Swim England Stage 3–4 | STA Stanley 4–5 | STA Stage Grades 3–4) Swim short distances independently (around 10 metres). Beginning to develop front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly kicks. They will be out of their depth
Improver / Confident Swimmer (Swim England Stage 5–7 | STA Stanley 6–7 | STA Stage Grades 5–7) Swim 25m or more without stopping and are confident in deeper water. Swimming full lengths of the pool, developing all 4 strokes and higher skills.
